What I Did To Turn My Life & Fibromylagia Around
Just a bit about me as the writer so you can relate to me & my journey and maybe it gives you hope and inspiration as the reader of my article & it will support you on your wellness journey.
In 2001, my health hit rock bottom and I was bedridden in intense pain. My diagnosis was; chronic fatigue, chemical toxicity, fibromyalgia, B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, high parasitic levels, dermatitis, irritable bowel (often with blood in stools)& gluten intolerance (which was severe in reactions). I had major sensitivities to most food, smells, newspaper ink, air fresheners, cleaners, car fumes, cigarette smoke, shampoo and deodorant smells plus much more.
My life was a mess! My symptoms would get worse at times, sometimes causing major problems – as an example; while in the super- market my legs would give way and the trolley would have to take my body weight until I recovered.
At my worst, I had no short term memory; someone could say something and when they had finished the sentence I had no recollection of what they had just said, it was really frightening to be in that situation because I had no idea how much worse it would get.
Some of what I did to turn my life around: I changed my habits – I learned to relax more – making time for me, time for loving self nurture – which included being really aware of what I said ‘yes’ too, would it help me or would it use my valuable energy? I was a ‘do it myself’ independent person and was used to working really hard before my health crashed (not used to having help from anyone) so I also needed to learn to say ‘yes’ to help. Also taking a good look at my ‘busyness in my life’ & learning to slow down & live more balance (the saying is…The ‘in’ box will never be empty! And I was trying to empty it ever day and pushing to hard).
My body was so weak I had to gently exercise & learn to pace myself and slowly increase the walking I did, so this meant firstly walking the length of my hallway, then over time I worked up to an hours barefoot walk on the beach (knowing what I know now I was also ‘earthing’ myself which was really helpful too).
I chose to eat only organic whole foods (nothing packaged), I ate large amounts of good clean vegetables, mostly in soups or stir- fried & some vegetables juiced. I excluded all sugars and that even included fruit due to realizing I had high levels of Candida and sugar of any sort feed Candida. I chose to eat only butter, olive oil & coconut oil as my fats. I changed to using only cold processed healthy salt, which was balanced with minerals (unlike the processed salt which is stripped & contains only sodium).
The foods I chose made me more Alkaline, with all the stress, toxicity etc I had become acidic & an acid body houses many parasites and fungal problems. I also did parasite programs which meant taking a good spectrum herbal specific to this & taking it up to high levels to create the die-off needed.
I did colonic irrigation, I did this for a while at least once, sometimes twice a week to reduce my toxic load.
I did 250ml – 500mls of Juicing, mainly nutritious weeds & also home grown wheat grass, always being mindful to not have to much carrot or beet because they contain sugars (also the only fruit I would juice was a green apple/granny smith). My blend was Half a granny smith apple, 1 whole lemon with skin on, 1 carrot, 1 small piece of beet (only about an inch) and also ginger root (also about an inch) plus lots of green from the wheatgrass and the weeds I had in my garden. Some green plants (like our regular green vegetables in the cruciferous family can be a problem juiced because they can create under activity in the thyroid gland).
I also made sure my body got high quality minerals, I found a form that was ‘alive’ and in a form that was easy for a weakened body to easily use, I also used good quality vitamin C daily in doses that I worked my way up to (there is a level you get to and they call it bowel tolerance, which gives loose motions, but if you slowly work upward you body adjusts and it accepts it and this becomes a very good detoxifier of free radicals). I also did months on Lipoic acid capsules, which trigger the body’s own glutathione production – which also helps rid the body of some of its toxic burdon plus heavy metals.
It is very important to make sure the body is getting a good source of fibre (often people say to me, ‘I eat plenty of fruit & vegetables so I get enough fibre’ – well believe me I was eating plenty too), I found life improved in leaps and bounds when I added in freshly ground flax seed and added some ground fennel for taste, mixed 2 heaped teaspoons of this blend into a glass of warm water in the morning & drank that down. This blend fed my good flora in the gut and moved things through much more regularly which helped the detoxification process.
The healing of my body took over 3 years till I felt normal again (even though it was a uphill climb and I did feel the improvements regularly, it did take time & effort to fully recover).
Today I am a vibrantly healthy, successful, business woman, with vast knowledge gathered from my journey. I now share with others that from my long experience prevention is much cheaper and better than any cure! I like to inspire and encourage others to look at these products as prevention so they never have to go through what I experienced. I am deeply grateful for the knowledge I have gained and am happy to go into more detail in the different areas of my journey/recovery success regime in further articles.
